Thousands of ultra low emission vehicles registered in Pembrokeshire – as campaigners group call for more equal access across UKDavid Phillips, an accountant by trade, and member of the Pembrokeshire Harriers and the Massey Ferguson Runners in Coventry, who divides his time with his family living in Penally and Warwickshire, had set himself two goals many years ago, one was to run 500 marathons, and the other was to raise £100,000 for the Brain and Spine Foundation Charity.
For the 17th successive year, David led ‘Team Phillips’ for the Daily Telegraph at the London Marathon last Sunday, in what was his 477th marathon, and with £9,000 raised this year, he reached his goal by hitting £107,000 in total.
“This was my 477th marathon so just 23 to go for the 500!” said David.
“London took me 6 hours and 2 minutes - a far cry from my 3 hours 20 minutes days of yesteryear week in week out, but having done two last week (also Boston Lincs on Easter Monday) the numbers are reducing gradually,” said David.
Next up for David is Stratford on May 7 before he takes on five marathons in five weeks, and after that the Tenby Long Course Weekend in early July.
