Professional canoeists and special guests are set to take to the water in May when the Pembrokeshire coastline plays host to a week-long sea-based celebration.

Entitled 'Paddle Pembrokeshire' and organised as part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park's 50th anniversary celebrations, the paddle will feature the entire 200-mile county coastline, including a stretch of the Daugleddau Estuary.

Statutory bodies, voluntary and private-sector organisations are working in partnership with the National Park in preparation for the event, and will be contributing to various activities during the week.

Those involved will paddle sections of the coast, starting at Poppit in the north of the county on Sunday, May 19, and finishing on Saturday, May 25, at Carew Castle.

Boat trips will be running throughout the week from various locations around the coast, taking in the sights of Ramsey, Skomer and Caldey Islands, Dale, Stackpole and the Milford Haven waterway.

The event will also include a range of land-based activities, including a porpoise watch at Strumble Head, a marine life slide show at Dale Yacht Club, a snorkel safari at Stackpole Quay, and a session of coasteering at Lydstep Point.

There will be opportunities for local people to become involved and further details about the event will be released in due course.
