Sir,

Now that our soldiers, sailors and airmen are heavily engaged in the Gulf, may I remind your readers that the work of our organisation, the Royal British Legion, takes on a much more significant role than its everyday caring.

The Royal British Legion is here to help and give support to all servicemen and their dependants who are in need. That we shall do, willingly and speedily when asked to do so.

We do not always ask for money (although that, of course is necessary), but we do always need your backing in our endeavours to help those in need. Can you help?

There are 18 branches of the Royal British Legion all over the county, and most have a Women's Section, and I am sure that many of you who read this are eligible for membership. Surely now is the time to give back a little for the good and wellbeing of those comrades in the Gulf.

Any offers of help, of assistance, or indeed just plain old fashioned support will be very much appreciated.

Not only will you be helping those who may very well need it very badly, but you will meet like-minded ladies and gentlemen who already give of themselves in time and effort to uphold the aims and work of the Royal British Legion. Please think about it! Why not join a local branch?

Your contact should be our county secretary, Mr. Peter Harrison, on (01437) 766647.

Thank you, I know you will help and do what you can.
