Secretary of Saundersfoot's Camrose Lodge RAOB Club, Don Poole, is appealing for help in translating a letter he has received from Syria.

Mr. Poole, who is also chairman of the village's community council, has received a letter written in arabic from a Muhamad Fauaz Dagfag who found one of the balloons from the summer RAOB balloon race.

"I am quite sure the letter is genuine," Mr. Poole told the Observer this week.

"But I am unable to deciper the writing and I am wondering if there is anyone locally who can help me out," he said.

"I would then like to send them a letter back thanking them for returning the reply slip and explaining a little bit about the event and Saundersfoot."

The balloon which made its way to the Middle East was puchased by E. P. Ellison, of Millfields Close, Pentlepoir.

This year there was a French winner, with the balloon race itself raising £900 to help sick children with special needs locally.

Anyone who can help Mr. Poole is asked to contact him on 813376.
