Sir, I used to live at No.1, St. Domingo Place, Tenby (now your muti-storey car park). Every day on the way to school, 1947-1957, I passed a house in Clareston Road, I think No 1, and there was a metal plate set in the doorstep with the name 'Amethyst' on it. This has been in my possession many years, left to me by Mrs. Rosina Hearnshaw (nee Ings). Is there any one who can tell me how it came to be there? I believe it came from HMS Amethyst of Yangtze incident! However, it appears the Amethyst was not broken up until the late '50s and I seem to remember it being there before that date.
