Strong calls have been made for more 'dog ban' signs on Tenby's beaches.
Tourists and councillors are concerned by the amount of fouling from dogs that has appeared on the beaches this summer.
In a letter before Tenby Town Council on Tuesday night, J. E. Jones, on holiday from Berkhamsted, expressed 'disgust' over the findings of 'dog pollution' on the South Beach.
"On one occasion we were disturbed to find that a very large dog had polluted the area that my grandson had been building a sandcastle. Later on when the tide came in, it was very disconcerting to note that this dirt had been washed into the water exactly where children were swimming," it was stated.
Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown expressed her concern over the problem and said that on Castle Beach this summer "dogs were everywhere on leads" and that dog owners "didn't seem aware of the ban."
Clr. Mickey Folland commented on the lack of signage.
"More appropriate signs are needed in more prominent places and the size of the signs need to be increased to make dog owners completely aware of the dates and times of the ban."
