DYFED Family History Society will be holding their Annual Open Day on Saturday, September 28, at the United Counties Showground, near Carmarthen, which actually marks the 20th anniversary of the society's formation.

The society has come a long way since 1982, with well over 1,000 members in all parts of the world, many of whom they look forward to meeting on the Open Day.

In addition to exhibition stands by the Record Offices of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, there will be stands by members from each of those counties; plus stands from other county societies, such as Glamorgan, Gwent, Hereford, Powys and Cornwall.

Chairman Elen Williams and her members want to make the day a memorable event and have invited local history groups to join in by putting on photographic displays of their towns and villages, schools, church and chapel outings, coronation celebrations, etc.

If any local history group from Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire or Pembrokeshire hasn't already contacted the society's secretary, Mr. John James, on 01554 774545, in order to take up space at the Open Day, then please do.
