Dyfed Family History Society are holding their annual general meeting at St. Peter's Civic Hall, Nott Square, Carmarthen, tomorrow (Saturday). Doors will be open at 10 am for everyone to search the wealth of records from Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire that will be available.
The business part of the day will start at 11 am, but before lunch searching can begin again. Just after 2 pm Mrs. Garnon James will give what promises to be a fascinating talk on 'Gypsies and Folklore' and the day ends at 4 pm.
Branch representatives of the society from each of the three counties bring along their transcriptions and indexes, so that members and visitors can look for that elusive date: where great-grandparents were living on census day, when they were born, where they came from, what they did for a living, where they married and who their parents and grandparents were.
The answer to many of your questions can be found, the only trouble is that finding the answer to one question always leads to another and so on to the earliest records available.
So, if you are interested in finding the answers, bring along the information you already have and the local experts will help you to find them.
