A King George V red phone box in the small community of Sardis, near Saundersfoot, has been renovated by volunteers to become what could be Pembrokeshire's smallest information centre.

Local community group, Sardis Parks and Gardens, has joined forces with Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority to create an information panel for visitors and residents about the local area.

National Park Authority interpretation Ooficer Rebecca Evans said:"The phone box had been purchased from BT by Saundersfoot Community Council for a £1 and renovated. As it was sited in the centre of the village, the group of volunteers agreed it seemed to be an ideal place for an information panel.

"The panel brings together information about local footpaths, the agricultural and industrial history and the rich variety of wildlife which can be spotted in the area.

"The panel aims to inform passing locals and visitors who may want to know more about the area and hopefully will be encouraged to explore further."

Sardis Parks and Gardens wrote the text and provided photos and paintings from local residents, including support from Saundersfoot Community Councillors and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority's graphics staff created the panel with assistance from Rebecca Evans.

The group work tirelessly to maintain roadside verges and banks in the centre of the village, as well as caring for a local patch of woodland.

The panel was funded by Welsh Government through Environment Wales.
