Sir, Pembrokeshire County Council's decision not to decide, in their December planning meeting, whether there should be a Tetra mast erected next to the Harriet Davis Trust Holiday Home for severely disabled children, has meant that the decision will now be made in Cardiff! We have been officially informed that the appeal will be decided on the basis of an exchange of written statements by the parties (NTL Arqiva and Pembs CC only) and a site visit by an inspector. We are all very worried about this development, especially for John and Kit Davies, who face possible closure of the home and financial ruin of the Trust itself! May we ask all concerned to please write one last letter asking for a decision to be made by Public Inquiry instead. This would enable those who strongly object, to have their case openly presented. Pembrokeshire County Council, we are reliably informed, are obliged to take a more balanced view. We suggest the following reasons: Very close proximity to the Harriet Davis Trust House and fears for their future. Landowners, The Robert Lock Trust, object to a Tetra(mm02) mast on this site. Mast proliferation. It had been felt that with digital TV soon, this mast would be removed rather than replaced with a new larger one. Accumulative effect of the varying levels of radiation already being emitted from the other three masts in very close proximity, without having a fourth even more controversial frequency added! Visual intrusion - yet another tall metal pole with antennae, clearly visible from the whole area, including the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Our own concerns of the perceived health fears. We have been given a deadline of January 3, 2006, to submit our letters, which in reality with Christmas post and holidays, means sending your letter this week. Please feel free to comment about this as it is very unfair. We have the support of Christine Gwyther and Nick Bourne, are seeing Nick Ainger tomorrow and await replies from others. Please send three copies (sorry, they insist) of your letter to the Planning Inspectorate, Crown Buildings, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3NQ, quoting their planning reference APP/N6845/A/05/1193509. May we take this opportunity of thanking everybody for their support so far. John and Kit Davies do not deserve this after all the wonderful charitable work they have done, and continue to do, for disabled children and their families. Please help them by sending these three copies of your letter straightaway to Cardiff. They send you their heartfelt thanks and join us in wishing you all a very merry Christmas!!
