A call for fixed speed cameras to be installed on the A477 through Llanteg has been made following an incident where a lorry veered off the road causing damage.

A report by Llanteg Village Hall Committee to members of Amroth Community Council stated that on July 20 a large articulated lorry veered off the A477 adjacent to the hall, damaging the boundary wall, some post and rail fencing and one of the solar powered lights.

“It buried itself in our neighbour’s hedge causing further damage. Fortunately, there were no other vehicles involved and no injuries,” stated the report.

“We are dealing with our insurers and have submitted a claim to reinstate the damaged property.

“Whilst we cannot prove it, we consider that the lorry was probably doing more than 40mph, reinforcing our views that fixed speed cameras should be installed on the A477 through Llanteg.”
