Sir, Already this season I have been involved in five altercations at Tenby and Saundersfoot whilst exercising my newly acquired puppy on the beaches, with individuals unaware of the legal position of the unjust dog bans. On one occasion, a police officer was called. I recently returned to Tenby South Beach car park after walking my miniature bull terrier towards Penally, at all times well within the dog permitted area, when I was accosted by an irate visitor who insisted that my dog was not allowed on the beach and drew my attention to the Blue Flag that flew above our heads. He found it difficult to believe my explanation that the dog ban area commenced some 50 or so yards towards Tenby from the Blue Flag or that a Blue Flag would be permitted within a dog exercise area. Also, that my dog could run around on land adjacent to a Blue Flag beach. I understand his reasoning and suggested he contact the police or the council and that I would await their arrival. This Blue Flag must be removed from its present location before it is the venue of a breach of the peace for which the county council and Keep Wales Tidy would be responsible. In addition, clear notices should be posted along The Esplanade, at the summit of the 'zig zag' and at the entrance to the South Beach car park, advising of the dog exercise area. The notice on the beach is insufficient and hardly ever in the right place.
