A calendar with a difference is raising money for Tavernspite School. Instead of the usual class photos, the children have posed for their birthday month instead. "I thought that it would be more fun if the kids dressed up with props and pose for their birthday month, so we had a Wimbledon theme in June and Hallowe'en in October," said organiser Yvette Hughes. Thanks to generous sponsorship from more than 40 local companies, as well as organisation by school LSA Avril Morgan, the calendar is set to make more than £1,500 for the school Parent Teachers Association. "We've all had great fun making the calendar and it's a lovely way to remember your friends' birthdays," added Mrs. Hughes. • Tavernspite's headteacher for the past 21 years, Brian Jones, retires at the end of this term.
