Caldey Island has paid tribute to John Cattini, a longtime worker who served the island for over 35 years in various roles, including commercial manager and lighthouse attendant.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the death of one of our longest serving employees and residents, John Cattini,” the monastic island shared.

“John lived with his wife Veronica for over 50 years on the island where they raised a family together.

John initially worked in the dairy but as time progressed he found himself doing more and more for the island, holding jobs such as commercial manager, fire engine driver and lighthouse attendant for over 35 years.
