Traditional products made by the monks of Caldey Island can now be purchased by customers from all corners of the globe thanks to a new internet shop launched this week.

In a bid to boost sales of perfumes, chocolates, shortbread and other gifts, the monks have logged onto the shopping superhighway and officially went 'on line' with their goods on Wednesday.

The internet shop has also caught the attention of a BBC2 film crew who filmed the launch for a special television series on the impact of new technology in a traditional community.

The shop, a page within the island's website, which was designed by commercial manager John Cattini and launched in May of this year, can be accessed at http://www.caldey-island.co.uk">www.caldey-island.co.uk
