The dismissal of a couple who worked and lived on Caldey Island for 22 years is set to go to an industrial tribunal hearing in the autumn.

Mr. and Mrs. McHardy are taking action against the Caldey Island Estate Company which runs the island, with the couple claiming 'unfair dismissal'.

Mr. McHardy worked as both a crane driver and cook on the island, while his wife's duties included repairing the monks' habits.

The couple, who have had to leave their island cottage which was provided with their jobs, have lodged a notice of complaint to the Employment Tribunals office at Caradog House, Cardiff, and now await a response from the Caldey Island Estate Company.
