Sir,

Although I have long been interested in the history of the Pembrokeshire coast and the offshore islands, I have not done as much research into the history of Caldey.

I had always understood that the name meant Cold Island, but recently when reading through the new little guide book for visitors, I was surprised to see that it meant Island of the Spring. If this is so, I wonder could any of your readers tell me where I can find historical references to this.
