We've done it! Four tired, but elated swimmers joined an elite band on Sunday after swimming from Tenby to Caldey Island.
Bryony Coates-Rees and Olivia Harries were joined by Jane Carling, who even managed to turn cartwheels on arrival at Priory Beach.
Andrew James, a talented young swimmer, joined the swim at short notice and also put in an impressive performance.
For all the swimmers, it was their first swim across from Tenby and mission accomplished.
Sea conditions, which were thought to be 'do able' in Tenby on dry land, turned out to be quite rough out by the North High Cliff buoy, so the swimmers needed to dig deep to complete the swim.
Bryony reflected afterwards: "Out in the middle of the bay the were some big waves, so it was a real struggle, but through grit and determination we summoned the resolve to finish the swim."
It was a proud moment for mothers, Marina Harries and Val Coates Rees, as well as for friends and supporters, John Tipton, Lee Sefton and Michael Roberts.
Jane Carling is raising funds for the Avenue Centre where she works, Olivia Harries for Greyhound Rescue and Bryony Coates Rees for the Samaritans.
The swimmers would like to thank everyone who has sponsored them thus far. You can sponsor Olivia at Tenby Leisure Centre, Bryony at Carew Castle and Jane at The Avenue Centre.
The swimmers would like to thank Father Daniel and the monks for permission to land on the monastic isle, and Ben Childs, who offered them celebratory tea and Welsh cakes.
Very grateful thanks are due to the three boats which accompanied them across, Mark Brace and Tenby Sailing Club, Jonathan Miller and Roy Broxham from Tenby Sea Cadets.
