Pembrokeshire Citizens Advice Bureau is encouraging people to learn new skills by becoming a volunteer as part of this year's Adult Learners' Week.
The CAB service has seen a big increase in recession-related enquiries, with sharp rises in the number of people seeking advice on unemployment, benefits, mortgage arrears and debts on other essential household bills.
As a result, and because of extended opening hours at the bureau, the charity needs volunteers more than ever.
County manager, Nicola Roguski, said: "Volunteering with the CAB is a great way of not only helping to change people's lives, but possibly changing your own life as well. You can learn lots of new skills for free that might lead to a new job, higher education and all sorts of other opportunities."
There are many and varied volunteer opportunities at the bureau, such as administrators, receptionists, telephone information helpline assessors, generalist advisers, marketing, PR and IT support. By becoming a CAB trained adviser, you can be awarded the CAB certificate in generalist advice work which is equivalent to NVQ level 3.
All training is free, expenses are paid, and support is provided every step of the way.
