A busy weekend of celebrations in the Sunday School and PYSH Club was completed with 'The Christmas Child' - the title of this year's programme given by the Sunday School members last Sunday evening.
Compiled by Rachel Calvert, the theme of the evening took the listener through Christmas past and present through the eyes of children locally and throughout the world.
Pastor Gooding began by relating the Christmas story from St. Luke's gospel and, following the offering, a prayer was given by Jacob.
Christmas memories were shared by Amy, Cerys, Ellie, Sarah and Jacob, together with Mrs. Val Evans, who gave her recollection of Christmas as a child, which stirred many fond memories of times when Christmas was not as commercialised as today.
Instrumental items were given by Jacob (flute), Holly and Cerys (flute duet) and the junior classes sang 'Mary had a little baby', with 'signing' by Sam.
Scripture readings were given by Louise and Linda, with recitations by Ellie and Amy. Sarah, Holly and Leah related how Christmas is spent in different parts of the world with a moving presentation on the Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal.
The Sunday School choir, led by Elizabeth, sang, It was on a starry night', 'This Child' and 'He came down that we may have love' and were accompanied by Jayne (piano), Vanessa and Adam (guitars) and Emma (flute).
Mrs. Maureen Griffiths was the organist for the congregational carols.
It was a delightful programme, with food for thought, as we all remember the Christmas message.
This Sunday, Christmas morning worship will be held at 9.30 am, when Pastor Gooding will officiate and a silver collection will be taken for The Paul Sartori Foundation. There will be no evening service.
Christian greetings are extended to members and friends in the locality for a peaceful and blessed Christmas.
Ladies' Fellowship
The Ladies' Fellowship met for their Christmas meal last Wednesday at the Lamphey Hall Hotel.
Twenty-nine ladies enjoyed a sumptuous meal and shared happy fellowship in beautifully festive surroundings.
The evening was appropriately concluded with the singing of Christmas carols, ably accompanied by Val on the piano.
Grateful thanks are offered to everyone who contributed to the evening's success.
The Ladies' Fellowship will meet next on Wednesday, January 11, at 7.30 pm, when the speaker will be Mr. John Brock, of Milton, when new members would be most welcome.
