Search for broken down speedboat

A search was sparked on Sunday for a broken down speedboat.

Tenby's all-weather lifeboat Haydn Miller was launched at 3.15 pm after Milford Haven Coastguard received a report that the vessel had suffered engine failure, but the occupant did not know where he was.

As the only details he could provide were that he could see wind turbines on a hill and a church spire in the distance to the left of him, it was decided that he was probably in the area of Pendine.

The Haydn Miller was soon on scene, but could not locate the casualty vessel either visually or using radar.

Milford Haven Coastguard then requested the launch of Burry Port lifeboat to search the Pembrey area and also asked the occupant of the speedboat to set off a smoke signal to aid the lifeboats in locating him.

Soon after the smoke was set off, Burry Port lifeboat located the vessel just inside the Burry Estuary. It was taken in tow to Burry Port Harbour.

ANOTHER TWO

CALLS FOR ILB

Tenby's inshore lifeboat Georgina Taylor launched at 3.53 pm on Bank Holiday Monday after the coastguard received a report from the RNLI lifeguards that a child had gone missing near the water's edge at Saundersfoot.

The lifeboat was quickly on the water and headed to Saundersfoot.

As they were performing a search along with RNLI lifeguards and coastguards units, the child was found safe and well on the beach. All units stood down.

Whilst returning from the rescue, the ILB was tasked to go to Tenby's Castle Beach where a child had fallen out of a rubber dinghy.

Before the lifeboat arrived on scene, the RNLI Lifeguards managed to rescue the child and dinghy and brought both safely ashore.

The lifeboat returned to station.
