Local rescue services have been kept busy during the past week, wth several calls to people in difficulty around the South Pembrokeshire coastline.
Search for
missing child
A search for a missing child on Tenby's Castle Beach was sparked last Wednesday afternoon.
The resort's inshore lifeboat Georgina Taylor was requested to launch at 2.10 pm to assist coastguards, police, RNLI lifeguards and the police helicopter search for the six-year-old girl.
The report stated that she was last seen near the water's edge.
The lifeboat was quickly on scene and performed a shoreline search whilst other units searched the beach.
Luckily, the child was soon found safe and well, but at the end of the South Beach - over a mile away!
She was then reunited with her very worried parents.
Stranded angler recovered from cliff
Tenby's all-weather lifeboat Haydn Miller was launched after Milford Haven Coastguard received a 999 call reporting a person stuck on a cliff at Swallow Tree after getting cut off by the incoming tide shortly after 10 pm last Thursday.
The lifeboat was soon on scene and began to search the area using search lights and FLIR (forward looking infra red) scope.
The casualty was then found some 100-foot up the cliff in a wooded area so the Y-boat was deployed whilst the lifeboat continued to illuminate the area.
The Y-boat went into the shore and made contact with the casualty who was cold and wet, but otherwise in good condition.
There was deemed to be too much vegetation and trees for a helicopter rescue, so Tenby Cliff Rescue Team, along with back-up from St. Govan's, made their way 40-foot down to the casualty and lowered him to the Y-boat waiting 100-foot below.
He was then taken aboard the all-weather lifeboat and returned to the station where he was met by paramedics.
Bodyboarders were safe and well
Tenby inshore lifeboat Georgina Taylor was launched at 6.20 pm on Monday at the request of Milford Haven Coastguard after they received a report of two persons possibly in difficulty on bodyboards off Wiseman's Bridge.
On arrival, the volunteer crew found the two persons returning to the beach safe and well.
Another busy day
Tenby RNLI had another busy day on Tuesday.
First shout came at 2.15 pm when the all-weather lifeboat Haydn Miller was launched following a report that several children had fallen out of a dinghy and were in trouble in the water off Barafundle.
As the lifeboat was en route, a further report confirmed that the children had made it ashore and were safe and well.
At 4.05 pm, the inshore lifeboat Georgina Taylor was launched after a report from a local harbour user that there were two people cut off by the tide between Waterwynch and Monkstone Beach.
As the lifeboat was searching for the couple, it was confirmed that the casualties had made it safely ashore.
Meanwhile, whilst the lifeboat was returning from the shout, the coastguard received a 999 call from a frantic parent saying that her son had gone out swimming behind a kayak and that the kayak had returned, but not her son.
The ILB raced to the scene and immediately began searching for the swimmer.
The inshore lifeboat was soon joined by the all-weather lifeboat, along with RNLI lifeguards and coastguard teams.
Luckily, after a few minutes, the swimmer was spotted safe and well on the beach.
