Members of the 1st Kilgetty Scout Group have had a busy few weeks. A grand total of £758 was raised by Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, leaders and parents while bag-packing at Kilgetty Co-op store on Easter Saturday. A big thank you to all and also the Co-op and customers. The St. George's Day Parade this year, the movement's centenary year, was held at St. David's Cathedral. Those who attended were: Beavers: flag bearer - Georgie Waters; colour party - Tom Bowen and Emma Caine. Cubs: flag bearer - Joel Langston; colour party - Brittany Rolfe and Christopher Caine. Scouts: flag bearer - Joel Read; colour party - Ben Prestwich and Tarn Whitehead. Scout Niall Rolfe said the Scout Law, and celebrated his 12th birthday; the congregation sang Happy Birthday to him. Also in attendance were: Scouts - Tom Prestwich, Marcus Read and Matthew Langston; Cubs - Darcy Langston and Liam; Beavers - Carys, Charley, Joe, Harry, Harvey and Thomas. A sponsored event was held at Llys-Y-Fran reservoir on April 28. Beavers, Cubs and Scouts cycled around the reservoir while some parents walked the eight miles. The finishing order was as follows: 1. Josh Palin; 2. Harry Palin; 3. Joel Read; 4. Mark Prestwich; 5. Marcus Read. The Scout section camped there the previous night. Scouts held their March camp in the grounds of the Carew Control Tower. Thanks to the committee for showing them around the tower. This year, Scouts have also held camps at Ludchurch and Yerbeston, braving some cold and wet weather on their evening hikes. Unfortunately, it was a very wet and windy day for the medieval extravaganza and craft fair held at Pembroke Castle. A lot of hard work went into making costumes. Despite the weather, everyone enjoyed the activities. Thank you to the six parents who helped sort the tents out, which was much appreciated.
