The new school year got off to an active start at Sageston CP School with the arrival of a mass of play equipment funded by the mums sponsored walk, which raised just over £1,000. Reception, infant and junior playgrounds all benefited from equipment such as stilts, lo-lo balls, skipping ropes, cats-cradles, Chinese skipping and lots more. There were also boxes of indoor games for rainy days. Not resting on their laurels, the fund-raisers immediately started raising money for another interactive whiteboard for the school. The sale of Christmas quizzes and magical reindeer food was a great success, and a group of parents, pupils and ex-pupils braved the elements at the Boxing Day and New Year's Day sponsored swims to boost funds. The pupils enjoyed their Harvest festival, which raised money for the Leprosy Mission, as well as taking part in Crucial Crew and trips to St. Fagans and Llangranog. Towards the end of the year, pupils were treated to a visit by 'King Carnival II', a Showman's Road Loco, which steamed its way down to the school. Sageston reverberated to the sound of its whistle as pupils kept shouting 'again, again!' The term came to an end with the annual Christmas concert and the school pantomime, both of which were a credit to the young performers. The Christmas spirit also continued as 100 shoeboxes which the children had been packing for the Samaritans Purse Appeal were collected from the school.

Pupils show off the new play equipment.
