To mark the end of a very busy and successful year, the members of Martletwy Young Farmers celebrated their successes by holding their annual dinner recently at the Beggars Reach Hotel, Burton. County officials, parents, supporters and members enjoyed a thoroughly delightful evening, which included a superb meal followed by a disco afterwards. During the evening, awards and trophies were presented to the following: Most promising female member under 18 - Rachel Lord. Most promising male member under 18 - Christian Nicholas. Best YFC member under 26 - David Nicholas. Best YFC member behind the scenes - Delwyn Llewelyn. Member with the best attendance - Elinor Nicholas, Christian Nicholas, Megan Jenkins. Member with the highest points in stockjudging - William Evans. Member with the highest points in any other competition - Megan Jenkins. Golden Welly Award - Richard Merriman. Very recently, Martletwy YFC held their annual meeting at the YFC Hall, Cresselly. Mr. and Mrs. David Hooper, the presidents, were present and welcomed a large number of members, officials supporters and county officials. Mrs. Jackie Hooper took the chair and followed through with the evening's agenda. A number of reports were read to the members. The club leader's report was presented by Mrs. Mary Jenkins, the chairman's report by Gethin Vaughan, the secretary's report by David Nicholas and the treasurer's report by Diane Parry. The evening then continued with the election of officers for the forthcoming new YFC year of 2005-06. The following officials were elected: presidents-elect - Mr. and Mrs. Graham Jenkins; club leaders - Mrs. Pauline Nicholas, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Morgan, Mrs. Mary Jenkins and Mr. Graham Jenkins; chairman -Gethin Vaughan; secretary -David Nicholas; treasurer -Diane Parry; assistant secretary - Rebecca Nicholas; minute secretary - Carla Lewis;assistant treasurer - Rachel Lord; registrar and press correspondent - Megan Jenkins; scrapbook co-ordinators - William Evans, Rachel Lord, Kathryn Morgan and Megan Jenkins; youth forum - Rachel Mathias, Kathryn Morgan, William Evans and David Nicholas. County executive representatives - Gethin Vaughan and David Nicholas; county competitions sub-committee representatives - Libby Henderson and Rebecca Nicholas. The evening concluded with refreshments, kindly supplied by Gethin Vaughan. As the new year gets underway, the members can now look forward to another busy time organising a number of events and activities for the forthcoming weeks. Tonight (Friday) - Harvest Ball at Kiln Park for the older members; indoor sports evening for the other members at the YFC Hall at 8 pm. Friday, October 7 - Talk by Mr. Alwyn Evans, County YFC field officer (new members welcome). Thursday, October 13 - Members' Quiz Night at YFC Hall at 8 pm. Friday, October 14 - New Members' Evening at Bloomfield Community Centre, Narberth, at 8 pm. Friday, October 21 - Public Speaking Evening at YFC Hall at 8 pm. Friday, October 28 - A visit -venue to be arranged. Tuesday, November 1 - Quiz Night at Cresselly Cricket Club at 7.30 pm. Anybody welcome to bring a team (fund-raising event). So a busy and hectic time ahead for the members of Martletwy YFC.
