Years 2 and 6 completed their SATs tests during May. Everyone is pleased with the results.
Class 2 went on a visit to Carew Castle and enjoyed dressing up and play-acting, especially the pretend sword fight. They are off to visit the Tudor House in Tenby this week. Let's hope the weather is kind.
Class 3 have been studying the history of the Saundersfoot Railway. As part of the project they followed the old line as far as possible. Of the many things they saw one that left an impression was the airshaft at the site of the Stepaside Colliery. They were very grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Worcester, owners of the site Stepaside Coach Works, for allowing them to see the shaft and for the background information.
Due to the Foot and Mouth situation we were not able to visit the Thomas Chapel end of the line.
The project, in conjunction with SPARC, is due to climax with an exhibition of the children's work, along with several other schools in the area to be displayed at Cresselly.
Class 1 have planned an exciting day out at the Scolton Museum, near Haverfordwest. The excitement is already reaching fever pitch. Once again hopefully the weather will be kind.
A group of Year 5 and 6 pupils spent an enjoyable week at the Pembrokeshire Watersports Centre based at Llanion. They are grateful to the staff at the centre and to Miss Waters and Miss Phillips for giving up their time to accompany them. The centre is a fabulous place and one that we are pleased to support.
The soccer team have had a very successful season. Due to the extremely wet winter and spring, the knockout cup matches ran on well into this term. Having beaten Hook School, then Roch School, both games away, the team was pleased to entertain Spittal School. Another close game ended in victory for the Pentlepoir boys. The next round meant they were on the road again, a long journey to Fishguard. A nip and tuck encounter ended with the home side victorious by 2-1. The cup run was over. The whole school is proud of the team's magnificent effort.
The squad was as follows: Tom Spencer, Grant Howells, Grant Hardy, James Maxwell, Joe Kidney, Mike Evans, Jimmy Boswell, Alf Probert, Egill Gunnars and Ashley Andrews.
The team would like to thank the mums and dads for helping with transport.
Our PTA has been busy as well. On Friday of last week they held the annual summer fete. Due to the unsettled weather most of the attractions were held in the hall. This did not detract from the enjoyment. One of the highlights was an entreating karaoke run by Miss Beckie John.
The fund-raising season ends on July 20 with the traditional treasure hunt. All are welcome.
We are hoping the weather will be fine for the sports on Friday.
Finally the busy term ends with the Musician of the Year competition on July 19.
