IT looks to be a busy summer season ahead at Lampeter House, Lampeter Velfrey, with various productions taking place (writes Astrid Bowen). The first is on Wednesday, July 11, when the Festival Players Company present As You Like It, a comic play by Shakespeare. The event is being organised by SPAN and will be the first time Shakespeare has been performed at Lampeter House. The stage area with its multiple doors, balconies and windows should be ideal for commic effect. Tickets are £12 and can be obtained from the SPAN office on (01834) 869323. There will be a bar and food available. One month later on Friday, August 10, Opera Box perform La Boheme, one of Puccini's most famous operas. The opera is in Italian with English subtitles. The music is glorious, but the ending is very sad, so bring a tissue! Tickets are £23, and the Gardens open at 5.30 pm for a 7 pm start. A glass of Pimms and canapes are included in the price of the ticket. The next day, Saturday August 11, brings an intimate evening of violin and piano music with Mizuka Yamamoto and Viv MacLean. Viv is an international concert pianist who plays with many of the world's top orchestras. Recently, he was on tour with the US with the RPO. A glass of wine and canapees shall be provided during the performance, which starts at 7 pm in the house. Tickets are £16, and are limited to 40 seats. On Friday, August 17, the Pasadena Roof Orchestra are back. For over 30 years they have prided themselves on breathing new life into the music of the 1920s and '30s. The orchestra has earned a reputation for its entertaining show, which combines hot jazz, early swing and sublime dance melodies with novelty tunes and comedy routines. The gardens open at 5.30 pm for a 7 pm start. Tickets are £18 and a glass of Pimms is included in the price.
