The Tenby and District Lions Club members have been exceptionally busy this month.

At the Carten cycle charity event they were hard pressed to feed over 2,000 cyclists after their 109 mile ride from Cardiff to Tenby.

Tenby’s Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sam Skyrme-Blackhall was on hand to greet the first three riders to finish - Mark Williams, Meurig Griffiths and John Thomas. The weather this year was perfect which helped the riders to achieve good times.

The Lions continue to raise money for the Displaced Persons who are fleeing from Ukraine.

In addition to donating £1,500 to the Lions International Disaster Fund they have been raising funds through the auction of a print of Tenby harbour kindly donated by Lion Paul Deverson.

Former Lion Roly Thorpe’s enterprising idea to sell twin lapel badges of Tenby and Ukraine has also raised nearly £900.

Peter and Jackie Adams, of the Begelly Arms were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation surrounded by Tenby Lions Club in recognition of their successful bid of £125 for the print.

The Tenby and District Lions continue to collect used spectacles from Optics the optician, Tenby Post Office, Tenby Market, Saundersfoot and Kilgetty Surgeries and the village halls in Manorbier, Jamestown and Kilgetty.

The used spectacles are sent to Medico in France to be refurbished to restore and improve the sight of millions of people living in south east Asia, India and Africa.
