Local police have reported a relatively trouble free Bank Holiday.

Seen as the traditional launch-pad for the tourist season, the Easter break saw thousands of visitors pour into the area over the four-day weekend.

Despite the mixed weather, people took advantage of the first Bank Holiday of the year and there was a rush of last minute bookings, tailbacks of traffic and crowds at the popular attractions.

"I walked the beat myself on Friday night and there were a lot of people about," said inspector Les Clark at the town's police station this week.

"The weekend was peaceful and people were generally well behaved," he continued.

"We did have a few sporadic incidents of a public disorder nature, but they were dealt with accordingly and we maintained our policy of high profile policing and officers were on foot patrols in the town during the day, evening and night."

Sergeant Howard Lloyd also praised the Easter revellers.

"The weekend was very very busy visitor-wise, with large numbers of people in Tenby and the surrounding area," he said.

"The caravan sites and hotels were full and there were the associated traffic problems, but fortunately people were well behaved and there were very few incidents reported or arrests made."

However, Insp. Clark said he had received one complaint about people urinating in the street.

"Over the last couple of days, one person has been arrested for urinating in a public place and another has been reported for court summons for the same offence."
