Oakwood Theme Park is working with one of Europe’s leading ride photography companies to capture state of the art digital images for visitors.

Based in the Netherlands, Socrates Imaging specialises in advanced image capture for the leisure industry; working with some of the largest theme parks on the continent.

As well as installing new photographic equipment on all its main rides, the Pembrokeshire park will also be using Socrates to create themed photographic souvenirs for its new Dahland experience; which features rides and attractions inspired by the writings of Roald Dahl.

Among the new rides, which open later this year, is ‘The Flight of the Peach’ which recreates the episode from James and the Giant Peach when James and his insect friends travel from Dover to New York.

“We’re delighted to be working with Socrates Imaging; their state of the art technology means we can provide visitors with much higher quality, clearer ride pictures,” said Oakwood Theme Park’s Phil Verbinnen.

“As well as being much more reliable, their cameras are also able to capture more targeted pictures; ensuring more personal images are available to visitors.

“Their system also allows people to purchase digital, as well as printed, images and each of their photographic stations also feature WiFi access for visitors,” he added.

As part of the system the photographs are also linked to the wallets and templates; providing customers with a truly themed souvenir of their experience.

Founded in 1987 and specialising in advanced imaging systems for the leisure industry, Socrates has become a leading manufacturer of ride-photography and on-ride video systems.

In 1990, Socrates developed the world’s first electronic ride-photography system; followed, in 1997, by its introduction of the very first all-digital ride-photography system.
