THE Fuchsia Caffe, the new kid on the café block, situated in Tenby’s Upper Frog Street, has been announced as one of the 16 finalists in the 2018 National Breakfast Awards.

Judges painstakingly whittled down the impressive entries and chose finalists from across the hospitality sector, including cafés, pubs, bars, restaurants and hotels.

On Tuesday, January 30, at Westminster Kingsway College, London, the chosen 16 will compete in live finals consisting of three rounds. The chefs will prepare their signature breakfast dish, the Ingredient Challenge where chefs are required to create a dish solely using the ingredients provided by the event sponsors and the Smoothie Challenge.

Laura Shorten opened The Fuchsia Caffe less than a year ago in March 2017. Her signature dish is a truly Welsh affair the P’Puffin. A fluffy muffin with traditional Welsh rarebit made with local ales, Penclawdd laver bread, fresh cockles and crispy bacon.

“I can’t believe we got though against some awesome competitors, the nerves are already high, I need to challenge my inner Master Chef!”

The evening award ceremony will announce National Breakfast of the Year, Breakfast Chef of the Year, Smoothie of the Year.

The presentation will see the overall prize of £1,000 awarded, plus a Vitamix Smoothie Blender.
