Mandy Procter, Matron of Tenby’s Park House Court Nursing Home, has presided over many training and development successes during her time, including the home’s Hospital Ward.
She is proud of the successful initiatives put in place to ensure the home stays at the forefront of the care sector; these have included a career path for carers from the age of 16; development plans for all who work there, which have allowed some to move on in hospitality and tourism management roles. Introducing a nursing assistant role for those who support the nurses on duty and the Passport Scheme for specialist carers to carry have both also proved very successful.
Other initiatives have been supporting literacy programmes for all who work at the home, including English and Welsh language both on and off site, and introducing non care diplomas in training, safety, team leadership, advice and guidance, and will be among the first to support diplomas in health and physiotherapy in a social care setting as well.
She is rightly proud of those nurses who have accessed and completed management diplomas at levels four and five as part of their development when there is no requirement to, while the home continues to recruit nurses who want to stay at the front of care/nursing practice.
Last year, 2016, was notable because she received two unsolicited training awards for the business, demonstrating her commitment to the development of care standards and personnel development.
Pictured with their certificates are some of those who have completed a range of qualifications as listed above, along with Lucy Breckon, central training manager care childcare, and the care assessor, both from Pembrokeshire College.
