Saturday saw the long-awaited opening of the new B&M Homestore in Pembroke Dock.

As part of B&M’s Local Hero initiative, representatives from Pennar Community Hall took centre stage to officially unveil the new B&M store with the Deputy Mayor of Pembroke Dock, Clr. Jane McNaughton.

The team at Pennar Hall Community aim to provide a modern community building for the people of Pennar and Pembroke Dock to hire and use for leisure, educational and social purposes. Pennar Hall is used by over 12,000 users per year who attend their clubs and organised activities.

In addition to cutting the ribbon at the new store, the representatives also received £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for taking part.

Since opening its doors, the store has set off to a flying start with customers piling in to quench their thirst for bargains.

They could also enter the B&M Big Prize Bonanza, a free game show that took place on the day from 9 am. The lucky winners walked away with some fantastic prizes, including a Russell Hobbs vacuum cleaner, B&M vouchers, Cadbury’s chocolates and much more.

There was also a facepainter in store on the day to transform customers into their favourite super heroes, animals or characters.

The former B&Q store underwent a comprehensive internal and external refurbishment programme and created more than 80 new jobs for local people.

The store manager, Simon Rosser, said: “We’re feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and feedback on the new store has been great so far.”

B&M is one of the fastest growing retailers in the UK, with more than 500 stores across the UK selling a variety of products, everything from food and drink to toys; homewares and even a large DIY range.
