An ‘Un-Humble Pie’ produced by the Pembrokeshire Pasty & Pie Co, whose shop is based in Tenby, has been awarded a silver medal in the Pie Class at the 2016 British Pie Awards.

The eighth annual British Pie Awards took place in Melton Mowbray and this year 816 pies were entered from 132 professional bakers.

Undergoing a thorough judging process from over 100 top pie experts, including TV chef Andy Bates, food critic Charles Campion and chef Rachel Green, the ‘Un-Humble Pie’ was given a silver accolade based on a range of criteria, including appearance, texture and taste.

Rhian Booth, of the company, commented: “We are delighted to have been successful in what is the country’s premier pie awards for our industry. This particular pie is new to our menu and has been a huge hit with our customers since its conception this year. We wanted to offer customers something really special and quite unique. This particular pie has a whole host of beautiful ingredients, including free range chicken, cured bacon, local Welsh cider and fresh tarragon. This product complements a whole range of unique handmade pasties and pies within our Tenby shop. We are thrilled its been recognised at this year’s awards.”
