Pembrokeshire builders and designers were praised at the recent South Wales regional finals of the 2018 Local Authority Building Control Excellence awards.

The builders represented Pembrokeshire following their success at the local awards.

The Local Authority Building Control awards were set up 15 years ago to help raise standards in the construction industry.

They celebrate excellence achieved through high building standards, technical innovation and sustainable designs.

The Pembrokeshire round of the awards - organised by Pembrokeshire County Council’s Building Control team - were held earlier this year when ten firms were singled out for the quality of their construction work across a range of categories from home extensions to commercial buildings.

The winners at the Pembrokeshire awards were:

Blue Ridge Builders Ltd of St Florence: for the best extension or alteration to an existing home at the Dingle, Saundersfoot. Blue Ridge Builders Ltd were also highly commended at the South Wales awards.

RED Building Services of Liddeston: for the best local builder or traditional craftsman.

Waterstone Homes of Bridgend: for the best change of use or conversion with Waterstone House, Tenby. Waterstone Homes were also highly commended at the South Wales awards.

Merrony Construction Ltd of Penally; for the best individual new home category with The Matchbox, Freshwater East.

Dick Manteuffel and Son Ltd of Lancych; for the best small new housing at Pentre Bach, Newchapel.

Butler Wall Homes of Pontypool: for the best social or affordable housing with Ashdale Mews, Pembroke.

WRW Construction Ltd of Llanelli: for the best educational building with Penrhyn Church in Wales VC School, Hundleton.

Carreg Construction Ltd of Haverfordwest: for the best small commercial building with Melin Tregwynt, Castlemorris. Carreg Construction were also highly commended at the South Wales awards.

D Hywel Rees, of Tenby: for the best LABC Partnership. This award reflects the winner’s longstanding working relationship across a number of projects with Pembrokeshire County Council Building Control.

GMW Design & Surveying Services of Letterston: for best site construction professional of the year-residential.
