During the Cymdeithas Tafarn Sinc campaign public meeting last week, the volunteer committee members were able to announce that £130,000 had been raised within 10 weeks of launching the campaign.

A week later, on Monday this week, the committee was able to confirm that a further £65,000 has come in, thus bringing the total so far to £195,000. The tiered target of £200,000 by the end of September is going to be reached and then the important next tier target of £300,000 to purchase the iconic pub by October 28 is now looking very achievable.

The committee members have confirmed that they have had an excellent response to the new four per cent guaranteed return from the Peer to Peer local lending scheme. It was further promoted at the Narberth Food Fair on Saturday and Sunday, with many confirmations of additional supporters willing to join the scheme during the next few days.

The committee was also due to launch the new £20 a month scheme to allow people to pay by standing order over 10 months. Many people have already confirmed that they wish to take this method of becoming a shareholder and a member. The forms are now available on the website www.tafarnsinc.cymru

The campaign is being professionally supported by PLANED, the community development support charity for Pembrokeshire, and should the purchase not take place for any reason, then all the funds will be returned in full to all supporters.

The Save Tafarn Sinc campaign now has four weeks to raise the remaining £105,000, but are confident that after seeing £65,000 coming in during the last week that the target is now achievable.
