Birt & Co. have recently completed their application to be licensed letting agents under the new Rent Smart Wales initiative.

Giles Birt, principal of the firm, said he was very pleased that the firm was one of the first in Pembrokeshire to receive this accreditation.

The new legislation comes into effect from November 23 in that all agents dealing with the letting of residential properties need to be licensed. This legislation also applies to landlords who must register with Rent Smart Wales all properties that they own in Wales that are tenanted. If they deal with the tenants personally, rather than through a licensed agent, then they themselves need to be licensed as well.
