A NUMBER of well-known people in Pembrokeshire have been summoned by a police sergeant! But don't worry, it is all in a good cause. Sergeant Anthony Mattick has been issuing key businsses people with summonses to attend Haverfordwest police station on Friday, October 8, to take part in a charity cycle ride. Among those who have been visited by Sgt. Mattick are Chris Ebsworth, of Folly Farm, Begelly, Phil Thompson, of Chevron Texaco, and Allen Cook, group news editor of Radio Pembrokeshire. He was also planning to call on Elma John at Kiln Park, Tenby, and Clr. Brian Hall, a member of Pembrokeshire County Council, in the near future. They are all being invited to join a group of cyclists who are taking part in the Pembrokeshire Peloton Charity Bike Ride, being staged to raise money for a number of charities which have been nominated by serving police officers or their spouses. Set to benefit from the charity ride are Withybush Hospital's Ward 10 and Chemotherapy Day Unit, the Pembrokeshire Sibling Group, which assists the brothers and sisters of disabled children, and the Association for Spina Bifida ad Hydrocephalus. The 16 cyclists, who will be pedalling around all of the main police stations in Dyfed and Powys over a four-day period, covering a distance of over 350 miles, include police officers, support staff and members of Tenby Round Table. The group will be cycling from Pembroke Dock to Brecon on the first day, Brecon to Machynlleth (via Newtown and Welshpool) on the second, Machynlleth to St. Davids on the third and St. Davids to Pembroke Dock on the last day. On the last leg of the journey, the business people summoned, along with other police officers and support staff, will be joining solicitors, police doctors, coastguard officers, ambulance personnel and other volunteers to pedal the last 10-miles from Haverfordwest Police Station to the Cleddau Bridge Hotel. "The event is gathering momentum," said Sgt. Mattick. "Events are being organised by Pembrokeshire police officers and support staff, with invaluable support from Tenby Round Table, ChevronTexaco, Pembroke, Folly Farm, Begelly, Kiln Park, Tenby, Pembrokeshire County Council, the Cleddau Bridge Hotel, Old Oak Insurance, Carmarthen, Pembrokeshire solicitors and Crown Prosecutors, South Pembrokeshire's emergency services, including Tenby Coastguard, Tenby Fire Brigade, Tenby and Pembroke Dock Ambulance and a number of local businesses from Saundersfoot and Tenby.

Mr. Chris Ebsworth, of Folly Farm, Begelly, is summoned by Sgt. Anthony Mattick to take part in the charity cycle ride. As a result, Chris’s wife Carina has also agreed to participate.
