Narberth based construction firm GD Harries is attempting to raise at least £10,000 to boost a fund created to pay for a six-year-old Whitland boy to receive treatment in the USA.
Morgan Hayes is battling the rare form of cancer Neuroblastoma, which targets the nervous system.
A £500,000 treatment, using donated cancer-killing cells, has been identified in America, and supporters of Morgan’s Fight over a wide area are working tirelessly to reach that figure.
More than £53,000 has now been raised for Morgan’s Fight, the appeal set up to pay for treatment.
To help boost the fund, the building firm is to hold a charity day at its Templeton depot tomorrow (Saturday), with many different activities to keep everyone entertained.
Morgan is a pupil at Ysgol Llys Hywel, Whitland, where deputy headteacher, Caroline Thomas, said: “Morgan has just finished a block of radiotheraphy and is now starting another block of chemotherapy, he is being so brave and smiling throughout.”
Recent fundraising has included an afternoon tea at Llewelyn Davies accountants, which raised over £1,300, and a horse-racing event at Whitland Cricket Club, which raised £850.
Further planned fundraising events include a black tie auction night on December 2, when up for grabs will be sporting souvenirs including a signed Ospreys’ shirt and signed Joe Allen Liverpool shirt.
Added Caroline: The current total is now over £53,000, and we are looking for new and exciting ideas in order to fundraise.
“If any clubs, groups or individuals would like to take on a challenge or event on behalf of Morgan’s Fight we would love to hear from them via the Morgan’s Fight Facebook page.”
