Narberth is to benefit from two major cash injections from Pembrokeshire County Council, it was revealed this week.

Over £1 million was set aside for the town's new primary school and Sunnybank Residential Home when councillors determined their budget for 2004/2005 last week, the town's county councillor, David Watkins, told members of the town council.

In the current financial year, £1,245,000 has been allocated for the school, which will be built at Jesse Road, with a further £2 million likely to be included in the balance sheets next year, Clr. Watkins said at Tuesday's meeting.

In addition, £400,000 has been pledged by county councillors to upgrade bedrooms at Sunnybank in Redstone Road.

The work will include converting the rooms to en suite to meet care standards, while a feasibility study will also be carried out at the home to look at its long-term future.
