Tenby Town Council have agreed its budget for 2017.
At their first meeting of the new year on Tuesday night, members unanimously agreed to keep the precept for 2017/18 at £58.57.
The town clerk Andrew Davies explained in his report that came before councillors, that provision to cover promoting Christmas activities and towards ‘park and ride’ provision during the pedestrianisation scheme had been maintained, whilst the floral budget had been increased to £10,052.99 to cover projected costs of continuing to provide bedding for plants for the town following the removal of Pembrokeshire County Council funding for floral displays and weekend maintenance
“As members are aware, Pembrokeshire County Council have also asked if the town council would consider an annual donation of £5,000 towards the cost of staging Ironman. If this commitment is forthcoming then the event can be secured for the town for the next five years,” stated Mr. Davies.
“Council will see that when the revenue and capital budgets are combined the total planned gross expenditure proposed is £215,601.31.
“With expected income marginally increasing, funding from grants, Section 106 agreements and reserves, this leaves a net precept requirement of £167,227.48.
“However, with the upward revision in the Council Tax base this year as outlined, this allows the town council to look towards an ambitious spending programme without having to increase to the Band D equivalent precept levy of £58.57,” he added.
