Members of the Friends of the Jubilee Play Park committee paid a visit to Tenby Scout and Guide Hall last Wednesday where they were delighted to receive cheques for £155 from 3rd Tenby Brownies and £210 from 4th Tenby Guides.

The Brownies undertook a sponsored 'Jubilee Walk' to help raise funds for the park, as they often enjoy spending time there, and sometimes have a Teddy Bears' picnic, which encourages the Brownies to have fun out of doors.

The Guides raised funds for the Park through a coffee evening.

Friends' treasurer, Mrs. Christine Brown, expressed her grateful thanks to all the girls for their efforts and to all their parents, relatives and friends who had sponsored them and attended the coffee evening.

During the evening, Guide leader Barbara Pegg and Brownie leader Margaret Peake told the Friends committee that Tenby Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section were flourishing, with over 100 girls meeting each week in their purpose-built hall.

In fact, they have girls in all sections waiting to join the Girl Guiding movement. However, they urgently need volunteers to help and become leaders so they may continue for years to come.

The 4th Tenby Guides and the 3rd Tenby Brownies will be celebrating 90 years of Girl Guiding in Tenby in 2013 and the current leaders ask anyone who would like to volunteer to help, whether a former Brownie or Guide or not, to please ring (01834) 844862
