Brothers Tom and Rhys Roberts from Pembroke Dock have had a very successful and busy season in the sport of autograss racing. Both are part of the junior section of Pembroke Autograss Club (PAC), who race near Lamphey, Pembroke.

Both Tom and Rhys competed in the British Autograss Series, with 15-year-old Tom finishing third in the British. To achieve this he travelled to South Wales where he finished second in the final, then Cwmdu in the West Midlands, where he made the final and finished fifth.

The third round was held up in Scunthorpe and again Tom made the junior final, finishing just outside the top four positions. The final round of the British Championships saw the Roberts family travelling to Northern Ireland and it was here that Tom in his PAC 157 red and white 1000cc Mini excelled by winning the final in great style.

At the Midlands Autograss Promotions meeting this year, which also incorporates the individual British Junior Championships, Tom was leading the grand final but clipped a marker tyre; with a quick response, he regained third place.

The Pembroke Autograss Club has high hopes for Tom for the future. He will compete in the junior section again next year, before going into the men's classes for the year 2010.

Rhys started racing a day after his 12th birthday, as the juniors are aged between 12 and 16, and has progressed greatly through the 2008 season. Rhys races a 1000cc red and white Mini, with his number being PAC 257, and has already achieved placings in junior finals.

The brothers' passion for autograss racing stems from their dad, Martin Roberts, better known to everybody as 'Noddy', who has achieved many accolades in different forms of motorsport.

To see these brothers in action, as well as PAC's new National and British champions, why not go along to PAC's last meeting of the 2008 season on Sunday, October 5, starting at 12 noon, at their local Lamphey track, where many perpetual races will be held as well as all the men's, ladies' and junior classes. For further details, please ring Michaela (secretary) on 01646 686253.

The brothers would like to thank their sponsors, 'Red Rose Inn', Pembroke Dock, and 'Pro Waste', for their support during the 2008 season.
