THIS week will see the return home of Gareth Williams from Llanteg. He has been serving as a volunteer missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Roseville area of California for the past two years.
The church currently has over 70,000 missionaries working in over 400 mission areas throughout the world. A young person who wishes to serve a mission can be sent to almost any country.
In fact, Gareth’s younger brother Ross, who turned 18 in May, left in early July to serve his mission in Sydney, Australia. He has spent three weeks in a Missionary Training Centre in Auckland, New Zealand, before going on to serve in the Sydney and Canberra area.
The boys have been delighted to work amongst the people of their assigned area, speaking to others about Jesus Christ and his restored Gospel.
Gareth intends now to continue with his education, having an unconditional offer to study Land Management and Rural Enterprise at Harper Adams University in Shropshire.
When Ross returns in 2019, he hopes to train to be a commercial pilot, having already gained his private pilot’s licence before he left.
