Tenby Infants School has become the first school in the town to receive their bronze Sustainable Schools Award. As well as learning about waste and recycling, pupils have been investigating bio-diversity in the school science garden and the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. They have installed a water butt and a compost bin and have enjoyed telling visitors why these items are important. This learning has been linked to the lives of people in developing countries. Pembrokeshire County Council cabinet member for children and young people, Clr. Islwyn Howells, visited the school to present the award and pupils put on a special assembly of poems and drama to mark the event.

Pictured are with the award are pupils (from the left): Arabella Haley, Amber Sangster, Molly Ashton, Roy Edwards, Henry Hunt, Tia Brace and Keaton Thomas. Also pictured is headteacher Gill John, Clr. Islwyn Howells, teacher Linda Roberts and Janie Pridham, sustainable schools project officer.
