Assembly Member for Pembrokeshire Joyce Watson has praised the Welsh Assembly Government for upgrading the Rhos and Llawhaden telephone exchanges to supply ADSL broadband. Residents and businesses connected to the Rhos and Llawhaden exchanges will now be able to order and receive ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) broadband services from their chosen Internet Service Provider (ISP). Joyce Watson AM said: "I am delighted that we now have broadband in the Rhos and Llawhaden areas, allowing our businesses to compete efficiently and opening a world of knowledge to our children. "Pembrokeshire has a high number of small businesses and self-employed entrepreneurs - broadband is vital to take our place in a global marketplace." A leaflet mail drop is being circulated to businesses and residents in the Rhos and Llawhaden areas informing them of broadband availability. Once these exchanges have been upgraded to supply broadband, there may remain sites that will not be able to revive a broadband service due to technical reasons. These areas are known as broadband 'not-spots'. An Assembly service has been set up to identify not-spots and gauge the level of broadband demand within these areas. Joyce Watson AM said: "I would urge anyone in these areas who has problems with receiving broadband to register their details immediately so the Assembly resolve this." Registrations can be made in two ways - firstly, by the not-spot registration website http://www.bnrw.org.uk">www.bnrw.org.uk or (Welsh) http://www.cadbec.org.uk">www.cadbec.org.uk, or they can be made over the phone on 01443 846700.
