Bridging the generation gap was the theme of a recent conference for the over 50s.

More than 160 delegates from organisations across the County met in Haverfordwest last week to consider the part young and old play in society - and how they can join forces for their mutual benefit.

Organised by Pembrokeshire County Council, the One Society for All 50+ conference was held at the Withybush Showground on Friday.

Part of a Welsh Assembly Strategy for Older People initiative, it was the sixth annual conference organised by the 50+ Central Forum, which aims to give a voice to the over 50s.

Key note speaker Ruth Marks, spoke about her role as Older Persons' Commissioner and how she hoped to raise awareness of the challenges and difficulties facing the over 50s.

Other speakers included: Paul Davies, Preseli AM; Angela Watwood, head of community care, PCC; Clr. David Wildman, cabinet member and champion for older people; Clr. Huw George, cabinet member for children and young people and Louise Middleton, of the Beth Johnson Foundation.

Delegates also took part in discussion groups debating topics such as community safety and reducing social isolation, while another highlight was a cookery demonstration, given by children and families through the Council's Cook It Schools Project.
