A plea from a boxing club in Tenby has prompted the town council to see if they can help with any form of funding to keep the club going.
A letter from the trainers who run Tenby ABC, which re-opened last year after relocating to premises at Unit 2, Wallsfield Lane, Deer Park, was brought before councillors at their meeting on Tuesday night.
The correspondence explained that the club had to try and find £500 per month for rent to keep it functioning.
The club itself has proved popular amongst boys, girls and adults since re-opening, and has managed to raise funds for bags and gloves and gym training equipment for its members. The club hopes to raise more money in the future by putting on shows.
"There's a lot of local children who attend the club and go there for the fitness side of things too," said Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown.
"The club has worked really hard to get everything right since relocating from Penally and I think it would be a great boost if we could help them in any way," she added.
Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane said that the the town council would get in touch with the club for a list of balance sheets and figures, with a view to giving them a possible grant donation.
