Fourteen-year-old local bowler Ysie White will be donning the red of Wales this weekend when she plays in the Under 16s test series against Scotland. Ysie, a member of the Heatherton Indoor Bowls Club, will play lead in a pairs match with Adam Brownsell tomorrow (Saturday) at the event held at Cynon Valley IBC, while on Sunday, she will lead in a triple skipped by Ross Owen. In only her second year of playing indoor, Ysie is very much looking forward to the two-day contest. One of those delighted with her selection for the Under 16s team was Mike Crockford, one of her coaches at her outdoor club, Tenby, who sadly passed away recently. "Mike was always very supportive and keen to hear of my progress," said Ysie, who lives in Whitland and attends Ysgol Dyffryn Taf. "I hope to do well, as I know Mike would be very pleased. I'd also like to thank all the other coaches at both Heatherton and Tenby for their help and advice too." Ysie's mum Christine and younger brother, Cameron, another one of the keen junior bowlers, will be travelling to Mountain Ash to cheer Ysie and the team on.
