Another win for Five Arches
On a very hot Saturday afternoon, the Five Arches entertained Pembroke Dock Pater in a second division match.
After our one shot defeat the previous week, we needed to bounce back and secure a substantial victory.
On rink one, Ray and his team of John, Steve and Ben had another good game. Always in control of the match, they had a 10 shots to eight lead at tea and pulled away to win comfortably by 23 shots to 14.
Rink two saw Lee and his rink of Ken, Harry and Clive involved in an epic battle. After a slow start, they were trailing by 13 shots to six at tea, but they erased the deficit immediately after by picking up a seven on the next end. The lead changed hands on a number of occasions, but the Pater boys prevailed to win by 22 shots to 20.
On rink four, Tony, ably supported by Aaron, John and Peter, were involved in another tight match, but always seemed to have the edge. Leading by 11 shots to six at tea, they maintained this size of lead right through to the end, winning by 18 shots to 14.
Ashley and his rink of Tony, Dai and late substitute Dewi got off to a flying start. Leading 10 shots to one after six ends, the Pater quartet fought back to be level after 12. However, a run of 21 shots in eight ends allowed the Five Arches rink to win by a comfortable 31 shots to 13.
Another good win at home and still all to play for in the second division, where the top five teams are all evenly poised.

Fishguard Dinas 18
In the last game of the first half of the season, Goscar welcomed Fishguard Dinas to the Tenby green.
The weather was set fine for an enjoyable game of bowls.
These were two evenly matched teams and so it proved as the game progressed
Goscar took the first end and held on to a slim lead throughout the game. However, the visitors fought hard and scored two fours to come back strongly.
Our skip had to work hard and saved a number of ends with his excellent bowling.
Going into the second half of the season, Goscar have won six of their seven games. However, they have yet to play their strongest opponents, so look forward to a challenging second half to the season.
